Jāzeps Vītols International Piano Competition
The 5th Jāzeps Vītols International Piano Competition will take place at the Latvian Music Academy from October 1 to October 9. Participating: young musicians from Estonia, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Lithuania, Tatarstan and Latvia.

Ancient crafts fair takes place at Āraiši Archaeological Museum Park
On September 28, ancient crafts fair will take place at Āraiši Archaeological Museum Park. Rather than a market to sell and buy goods, this fair will be a platform for exchange of experiences, discoveries and impressions, which will provide an insight in the ancient history of Europe.

Paulis Liepa wins Grand Prix at Kaliningrad Graphics Biennial
At the 9th International Biennial of Graphics of the Baltic Sea Countries in Kaliningrad State Art Gallery, the Grand Prix was won by Latvian artist Paulis Liepa.

Premiere of the German choreographer Christian Spuck`s ballet "Sandman" on the Latvian National Opera stage will take place on September 26.

Latvia the theme country at Göteborg Book Fair
September 25-28 are the dates for the Göteborg Book Fair 2008, at the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Göteborg. With usually over 100,000 visitors, this is the largest cultural event in the Nordic region.

2008 Autumn Chamber Music Festival
This year’s Autumn Chamber Music Festival will be held September 17-October 5 in Riga, Cesis, Gulbene, Salaspils, Burtnieki, Plavinas, Mazsalaca, Preili and Talsi with a total of 20 concerts on the bill.
Latvia's exhibition panel at 11th Venice Biennale of Architecture
It is the fourth time that Latvia participates in Venice International Architecture Exhibition. This year Latvian artists present exhibition "Dustroom", set up at old shop premises on the first floor of a building in Venice, by a pedestrian walkway near the Architecture Exhibition`s "Arsenale" and gardens.
